Never Alone
1. I’VE BEEN SEARCHING
I’ve been searching for a long long time
Lord for someone like you
My feet are dusty from the long long walk
I want to rest in you;
My mind is tired and my heart is faint
Searching for the reason to live
You took me in though I came too late
I want everybody to know
Lord you are the reason I sing
You are the one who came to save me
You know my heart so I will bring
My simple praise to Thee.
Like the morning star you shine in my heart
You chase the night away
You saw how my life had fallen apart
You helped me, what can I say!
Your Word is sharper than a double-edged sword
It will keep the devil away
So I will sing of your love O Lord
Until the stars fall down
2. NEVER ALONE
It’s been a long time on this highway
Chilly winds blow every night
Lonely valleys, rocky mountains
And the sun keeps shining bright
I’ve been tired and I’ve been hungry
And I have shed a lot of tears
And I wondered if the Lord was near
I wondered if He loved me still!
Then I heard your sweet voice callin’ me
Sayin’, “son, don’t be afraid
I will guide you with my strong, right hand,
You will never be alone!”
Winding road I walk along
Singin’ every country mile
With you by my side I can’t go wrong
Lord, you really make me smile
Though I see no clear road signs
And the sunset disappears
I’ve seen colours of the rainbow
And your cloud keeps guidin’ me:
Isaiah 41:10, 43:1-3
3. SWEET BUNYORE
Life has been cruel to me
And I have longed for a shoulder to lean on
I have nursed much insomnia
There’s been nothing worth keepin’ for a dream!
I have seen the coldness of the city boys
And the lies of the city girls
O the pain of street children
Perhaps it’s time to go right to the start.
Sweet Bunyore
Do you remember me?
And if I come
Will you receive me?
Sweet Bunyore
Have you a place for me?
Or am I just
A child of fate!?
I hear the mooing of the cows
As they give their scanty milk away
I can smell the evening fires
As the clouds begin to swell again
How I long to hear your rivers flow
And the morning birds begin their praises
As they join the whole creation
In the mighty song to the King of kings.
Bridge:
There’s a place where the heart may find the
answers
And the body find its rest in the evening
‘Tis the story of a tired man
Lost in a world that is lost!!!
4. BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD
How I long to go back to my childhood
And sit on my mother’s lap
And hear her sweet voice in the kitchen
As she worked the night away
O it brings me much nostalgia
To think of all my childhood friends
Who gave me all the love that a young boy would
need
That’s why I’m what I am
Yes they gave me all the fun that a young boy
would need
That’s why I’m here today.
Take me back to my childhood
Take me back in time
Where people used to care
With a love so real and rare today!
Let me hear again
The sound of home sweet home!
Bring yesterday back today.
How I long to sit again by the fireside
And feel the smoke right in my eyes
And listen to the animal stories
And share the scanty meal in love
O it gives me much reflection
To feel the joy of growin’ up
And if I lost everything in this crazy world
I’d still thank God for just one thing:
Yes, if I lost everything in this old crazy world
I’ll still thank God for my childhood years.
Bridge:
There’s time for everything under the sun,
A time to be born
And a time to die!
5. DADDY CAME HOME LAST NIGHT
Daddy came home last night
‘Twas a shock for the folks who knew well
That if daddy kept drinking
The bottle would kill him
And he had no time for his family
Back home his house started leakin’
And the kids were sent away from school
But thank God for the woman who knelt morn and
night
To pray for his poor wretched soul.
Daddy came home last night
We’re singin’ halleluia Amen
Since then he’s drinkin’ from the
fountain of life
And he says he’ll not go back again.
For years he despised church and Bible
All that he wanted was fame
If you saw him for a moment
You might even have been cheated
That daddy was the happiest man!
But when they told him that his job was over
For they couldn’t stand his drinkin’ anymore
He remembered his Father and cried for His
mercy
And as the angels sang he came runnin’ home.
6. JACKIE COME BACK HOME
You slammed the door last night and you went
away
As you told your dad, a preacher-man, you didn’t
want to stay
And mama really cried
As you took the hand of a lonely stranger
So you took the ride
To the city where real freedom just begins!
Jackie please just take the time to listen to
what I say
I think that you are headed for disaster
Sometimes the things you wish to keep are
the things to give away
So Jackie come back home
You are losing a golden chance for a broken
Heart
You’ve tried the ways of the city twilight girls
And you climbed the ranks to a beauty queen, you
know the latest curls
But there you are
Sitting on the street so broken hearted
Yes, there you are
Sick and tired of all that life can bring
You thought the Word of God was an ancient
dream
The kind of thing the civilized must fight and throw
away
Please hear me now
It’s the only thing that will help you, Jackie
Come back home
Daddy longs to take you back again.
7. WHAT A SUNDAY MORNING
What a Sunday morning a new day dawning
When Jesus came right into my heart
Like a cannon blast He blew away my past
And made me a brand new man
He washed away my sins sat me with kings
He removed all my guilt and my shame
He brought me a smile and in every while
He keeps me moving on
He’s the Rock of Ages, wiser than sages
He is the bright and morning star
The Prince of peace and the King of kings
Almighty God is His name!
The waves obey Him, the demons tremble
At the sound of His awesome voice
I love Him so much and wherever I search
I find no other like Him.
When I’m hungry and when I’m thirsty
He is my water and my bread
Through the valley of death I will fear no evil
He is my good shepherd friend
Through the ugly night, He is the light
With him I’ll make it home
He is my song, and I can’t go wrong
For He keeps me movin’ on
8. JESUS YOU ARE THE LORD
Jesus you are the King of kings
Jesus you are the Lord
Jesus you are the Living One
You are the first and the last
Jesus you are the Prince of peace
Jesus you are my Friend
Jesus you are the Risen One
Jesus you are the Lord
I will bow down and worship you
You give me reason to live
I love you more than anything
I give myself to You
Take me now and make me fully yours
Jesus you are the Mighty God
Wonderful Counsellor
Jesus you are the coming King
Jesus you are the Lord
Jesus you are the Bread of life
You are the door for the sheep
Light of the world You are the vine
Jesus you are the Lord
Here is my heart my mind my strength
Use me dear Lord as you wish
There is no one who compares with You
Jesus you are the Lord, Jesus you are the Lord.
I say Jesus you are the Lord, Jesus you are the
Lord.
9. GOSPEL COUNTRY
When my heart is down I lift my eyes to thee
And when I see your holy face my problems flee;
I wonder why I ever doubted your power to set me
free
So in this song I say I love you so,
I love you so.
So let me go Gospel Country,
Lord I know that this music fills my soul
And I know that there above in heaven
You love to hear us sing
From the bottom of our hearts
As we give you praise.
In the morning, Lord, I’ll play you my guitar
And sing to you a joyful song with all my heart;
And when the day is done I’ll praise you
And exalt your holy name,
So with my voice I sing this country song,
This country song.
10. NIGHT IS HERE
Night is here, the day is gone
The stars are dim, the moon refuse’ to shine
And I am here alone
I hear the sound of a distant call
Persuading me to brave the narrow way
But I am so afraid.
Lord, it makes no sense to me
To walk a path I cannot see
But I guess that’s part of the mystery
The grace you’ve shown to me
‘Tis the story of faith
And faith alone!
Night is here, the day is gone
I long for someone who will hold my hand
And walk with me along
I lift my eyes to the cloudy skies
The thunder sounds, the rain begins to fall
Dear God I need your hand!
11. VOICE FROM A COUNTRY BOY
You pack your bags and start the journey
Folks and buddies gather now to witness
Many dreams come true
Hand in hand you risk a road you’ve never walked
before
And all you know is what you have been told!
As Papa gives his little girl away
Mama fights the teardrops in her eyes
Wondering if the joy they see today
Will be the story of the years ahead!
But there’s a voice from a country boy sayin’
“There’s a Man who’s walked this road
Take His hand and walk with Him
He’ll tell you all about what lies ahead. “
You climb the mountains, cross the rivers
Now and then you stumble and you fall
And then it’s growing dark!
The devil checks on you and throws temptation all
around
To see if you will listen to his voice
But if you fix your eyes on Jesus Christ
There’s a candle that will light your journey home
And as He takes you gently by His hand
You’ll surely make it on the narrow way!
12. THANK YOU FRIEND
Thank you friend for being there
I could go just about everywhere
But never find someone like you!
Deep in your heart I am sure
There is room big enough full of love so pure
For a tired, fainting pilgrim like me.
Judging by the times I’ve spent with you
I could only say I thank the Lord for knowing you
And I cherish the prayers – and the open ear!
And thank you for the shoulder
I’ve cried on many times
And thank you for the laughter
And the smile that keeps on warming my heart.
The world is full of many things
That thrill the heart of man
The world is full of people
That come and go
The world is full of beauty
From the mountains to the seas
But none is like my very special friend!
When everyone had turned away
And all I could do was watch and pray
You took the time to be with me!
Through the silence you spoke so many words
You made me fly higher than the birds
And tonight if I should pass away
I would know I had a friend like you!
Bridge:
We celebrate the strong and mighty warrior,
And we sing our praise for the beauty of the sky;
But who will remember
To praise God for a friend?
That person who will stand with you
Yesterday, today and tomorrow!
13. WHEN I WAS A BOY
When I was a boy
Just immersed in toy’
I never really knew the world could be
So harsh for me!
I was busy at play
I liked modelling clay
Then slowly I began to find
At three I became blind.
Some precious years went by
Mama had to try
And Papa never really just played it cool
I soon went to school
I learned to read and write
The future seemed so bright
But later it all became so tough
My learning wasn’t enough.
If Jesus never died for me
Where would I find this peace I know?
His grace and His love are enough for me
And with this one thing my heart overflows
Yes, with this my heart overflows.
Sometimes I wish I could see
I know it mustn’t be
‘Coz the light of Jesus inside me
Is enough for me
I need no sympathy
Not even empathy
‘Coz a miracle took place in my heart
When Jesus filled every part.
I’ve tried surgery
It led to misery
I know that money cannot buy
This joy that will never die
I’ve tried philosophy
And some theology
But they never really gave me the peace of mind
That I tried so hard to find.
14. LOVELY MOMBASA
When I walk along your sandy beach
I see the ocean blue beneath the sky
It makes me feel, in heaven when I reach,
I’ll see the crystal sea where men don’t die.
Lovely Mombasa let me sing
Of how your lovely beauty speaks to me
In you I see the wisdom of my King
Who made the world and all in six days be!
When I look at your wavy, troubled sea
And how your mighty winds the waters roll
It makes me think of Christ who rescued me
From such a troubled world of sin and fall.
15. CRY THE PAIN
Cry the pain across the hill
For a city that is burning
Cry the pain and then be still
And help the people mourning
Did they have to build the bomb
To tell the hatred story
And did we have to dig a tomb
To quell the mystery?
Cry the pain and join the song
For the City in the Sun (Nairobi)
Cry the pain and then be strong
God’s justice will be done;
Cry the pain for the Haven of Peace
(Dar-es-Salaam)
For the mother, father and child
For one day all the pain will cease
From the city to the wild.
(Isaiah 11:1-10; Revelation 21:1-4)
Cry the pain across the sea
For they cannot save them all
Lay aside your cup of tea
And hear the children call
Cry the pain and don’t forget
The unity in tragedy
Cry the pain and don’t you let
This lesson roll away!
16. MINI-BUS RIDE
You leave home in the morning
It’s time to go to work
You wish to board a taxi
But you do not have a cent
Your neighbour lends you bus fare
Hopin’ soon you’ll pay it back
And so you board a mini-bus
And it’s time for hell to break loose again!
They pack you like sardines and they will
squeeze you to the seat
Another man picks your pocket and takes
your bus ticket home
They shout at you and call you names, you
wish you didn’t board
But the angry boss will never understand!
As the driver takes the corner
There’s a pothole on the road
So he swerves but hits a cyclist
Who’s peddling against the time
No one keeps the traffic rules
No one seems to understand
That any time someone could die
From the madness and the selfishness we see.
